The final stop on Highway
1 is Key West. We take the 90 min drive to Key West and park the car
at Trumna Waterfront Park. We have lunch and the kids play in the
park. In the harbor we can see the cruise ship Nieuw Amsterdam from
the Holland America Line.
Next, we take the
free circular bus around town. Funnily, we see roosters and chickens
everywhere running around town. We stop off at the southernmost point
in the continental USA. From here Cuba is only 90 miles away by boat!
It looks like there is a
storm brewing in the distance so we head back to our trailer.
Fortunately the storm does not follow us, but we do have a beatiful
crimson red sunset. Some of the campers here are really getting into
the Christmas spirit and there are lots of pretty lights around the
campground.
